Adelaide A. Borges, 91, of Fall River, widow of Jorge Borges, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, April 10, 2019. Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Jose Antonio and the late Mariana (Faria) Antonio, she was raised in St. Michael, Azores, and returned to Fall River in 1948.

She worked as a seamstress in the local garment industry for several of her younger years, and was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union (I.L.G.W.U.) now called UNITE. She enjoyed gardening, had a passion for crocheting, and was very artistic. She also enjoyed homemaking and was a great caregiver for her mother and for her husband.

Survivors include: four children, Joseph A. Borges of Attleboro, George Borges Jr., Ana Maria Barbosa (late husband Albert) of Fall River, and Henry Borges of Fall River; four siblings, Henry Antonio of Long Island, NY, Joaquim Antonio of Long Island, NY, Teresa Matos of Long Island, NY, and Fatima Matos of Swansea; seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Beatriz Borges, who died as an infant; and a sister of the late Jose Antonio.

Her Funeral will be held Saturday at 7:45 am from Silva-Faria Somerset Funeral Home, 84 County St, Somerset, with a Mass of Christian Burial in Espirito Santo Church at 9:00. Committal Service and Interment to follow at Notre Dame Cemetery.
