She was born September 16, 1916, in Uniontown, Pa., the daughter of Paul B. Nixon and Ada Walters Nixon.

Dorcas graduated from the now former German Township High School, Class of 1935. She boarded with the high school principal and his wife so that she could graduate and earn money for her class ring.

Dorcas worked in that same high school cafeteria in McClellandtown where she was well known for her excellent cooking and baking skills.

She served as Central Committeewoman from 1978 to 1996, when she moved to Greensburg, Pennsylvania.

Dorcas was a long time member of The Daughters of The American Revolution.

After the death of her husband, Earl, in 1991, Dorcas remained on "The Farm", which they loved, until her move to Greensburg in 1996. She shared those memories with her new friends in Greensburg. She attended the Maplewood Presbyterian Church in Greensburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Earl Brashear, her grand-daughter, Lisa Brashear, her son-in-law, Sidney McGill, and sisters, Pauline Donovan and Virginia Conaway.
