Marjorie C. Doornink, 92, of Le Mars, died Monday, March 12, 2018, at the Good Samaritan Society-Le Mars, in Le Mars.

Marjorie Claire Doornink was born Dec. 28, 1925 in Plymouth County to Delphis and Florence (Lucey) Lambert. She graduated from LCHS in 1943 and earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Westmar College in 1973. On May 11, 1948, Marjorie married Wallace Doornink. They made their home on the Doornink family farm north of Le Mars.

Marjorie was a gifted artist and has a painting on display at the Plymouth County Historical Museum. She also loved to sing.

Together, Marjorie and Wally enjoyed building bird houses as a hobby. They were members of the Le Mars Bible Church. They loved their church and their church loved and supported them. They were also members of the Hilltoppers Group.

Marjorie spent the last years of her life at Brentwood (Good Samaritan Society-Le Mars) and enjoyed life there immensely.

Marjorie will be lovingly remembered by her children: daughter, Kathleen (Donald) Budd of Florence, Colorado; son, Richard (Roberta) Doornink of Cameron, Missouri; daughter, Twilla (Greg) Vath of Dalton, Nebraska; four grandchildren; Holly Gonzalez, Allen Morris, Ruth (Derrick) Sears, and Reuben (Dana) Doornink; seven great-grandchildren: Matthew and Heather Gonzalez, Hope Hammontree, and Leah, Griffon, Talon and Benjamin Doornink.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wallace; brother, Lee Lambert; and an infant son.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., today (Friday) at the Le Mars Bible Church. Pastor Fred Gums will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will begin at 11 a.m., Friday, at the Le Mars Bible Church and will continue until service time.
