Joseph D. Lumsden

Joseph D. Lumsden, 64, 1010 1/2 1st Ave. S., died at Veterans Administration Hospital, Des Moines, Saturday afternoon following a short illness. Services will be 9 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Laufersweiler Funeral Home, and 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. The Rev. Louis Kollasch, administrator, will officiate at the Mass of the Resurrection. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery, Lehigh. Rosary services will be Monday and Tuesday at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
At the graveside, the National Guard will have the firing squad, and the flag presentation will be by the American Legion and World War I Veterans.
Among the survivors are the widow, Leonette; brothers, Maurice, Lehigh; John and Lloyd Lumsden, both of Fort Dodge; sisters, Mrs. Mickey Castagnoli, Fort Dodge; Mrs. Nick Yates, Fort Dodge; Mrs. Wanda Safley, Rockwell City; Mrs. Delbert Harrington, Burnside; Mrs. Norman Lohrbach, Eldorado Springs, Mo.; and Mrs. Alta Fuhrman, Des Moines.
Mr. Lumsden was born at Lehigh and attended schools there. He came to Fort Dodge as a young man, and in 1942, entered the U.S. Army, serving in the Alaskan Territory during World War II. In 1942, he married Miss Leonette Fritz at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo. Following his discharge, he and his wife made their home in Chicago, and in 1965, moved to Fort Dodge. He retired in 1972.
Memorials may be left to discretion of the family.
