He grew up in Syracuse and then moved to Los Angeles, California. He was married but divorced. No known issue. He died at the Little Sisters of the Poor in Los Angeles.
Family stories abound about my Granduncle such as "he owned an orange grove", "worked as a stunt man in the movie industry" none of which have proven to be true. What has been found is that he was a painter and decorator once owning his own business.
One thing that is true is that he had a church altar built in memory of his mother. That picture hung on the wall of my grandparents living room. My grandfather & Grover were brothers. The altar was built of stones and if memory serves us correctly, the stones came from either every state in the US or from around the world.
We can, in our minds eye, see the picture and the plaque on the frame below telling where the church was located. Not a one of us can remember the name of the church other than it was in Los Angeles!! One California cousin does remember it from childhood but she too cannot remember the name of the church. If anyone has any information on the location of the church, I would greatly appreciate hearing from you.
Many thanks to Lawrence for taking the photo of the area where Grover's unmarked grave is located!
