HUNTINGTON-Our loving, caring husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Arthur Gale Anderson "Rat Bait," age 65, was taken from us way too soon on April 14, 2019.

He was born April 2, 1954, to Soren Arthur Anderson and Karen Hope Young in Price, UT. Gale married the love of his life Mavoreen Rose McArthur on June 22, 1973, in Huntington, Utah. They had three daughters, six grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. Gale was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Gale worked in the coal mines for 47 years, retiring from Deer Creek Mine in December 2017. His second home was the desert (he was later known as a desert rat). He loved everything about it, from hiking to canoeing, ATVing, camping, and hunting. Gale was also known as the utmost, respected "unofficial" expert on the San Rafael Desert.

Whenever the counties had a question or problem, they would call dad. He taught all of us about the desert and sparked a love of it in us that will always be there.

Gale was a master carpenter and part of the Mecca Bike Club. He also served as captain of the Emery County Search & Rescue. He loved helping others.

He was also known to have the best garden in town. Gale shared generously with his neighbors and friends during harvest time.

Gale was an avid antique collector, who loved metal detecting, fishing, and hunting. He was always looking forward to hunting season, sporting his everyday camo clothing to prove it.

He is survived by his wife Mavoreen Anderson, Huntington; daughters, Katielynn Anderson, West Valley, Kristal (Julie Stoddard) Davenport, Layton, Ericka (Kevin Peacock) Vocke, Lawrence; grandsons, Orion Anderson, Leslie Davenport, Payton "Rooster" Davenport, Dylan Vocke; granddaughters Camryn Vocke, Emberlyn Peacock; great-granddaughter, Makenzi Jones; mother-in-law, Olive McArthur; in-laws, Foster (Debbie) McArthur, Terry (Sandra) McArthur, Alan (Julie) McArthur, Charlene (Kevin) Peacock, Arthur (Lori) McArthur, Michelle Anderson.

Preceded in death by his parents; sister, Brenda Tucker; brother, Roger Anderson; father-in-law Perry J. McArthur.

Funeral services, Monday, April 22, 2019, at 11 a.m. at the Huntington Stake Center. The family will receive friends at the stake center Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and on Monday one hour prior to services. Interment, Huntington City Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home.
