James was a loving father to his children for 55 years and a loving husband to his wife, Mary Ann, for 37 years, and so much more than that. He was someone special to many people in this world. Some would say “their hero”. He was the best husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and great grandfather, a person/child could have, and also a good friend as he was loved by many.
He loved to fish and hunt with his family, play golf with his brothers, sons and nephews, play cards-or as he would say “y’all wanna play a hot game of cards or dominos”? But as of late, fantasy football became another enjoyment for him, and of course he went out as the champion of the league with a massive trophy in tow. He was a jokester that never tired of pulling pranks. Family was everything to him and he was/still is everything to his family.

In 1972 he moved from Texas to Oakdale and started his career in the food industry opening grocery stores in Oakdale, Elizabeth, Eunice and ended his working days as a manager at Coushatta Casino Resort.

He will forever be greatly missed and never forgotten as the purest, kind-hearted man, as well as a stellar member to his community we all knew and loved.

Those left to cherish James’ memory include his wife, Mary (Herbert) Christian of Oakdale; two sons, Brian Christian of Paris, TX and Michael Christian of Oakdale; five daughters, Jessica Christian of Paris, TX, Karen Kojis (Rick) of Alexandria, Melinda Carruth (John) of Glenmora, Misty Christian of Oakdale, and Michelle Reese (James) of Oakdale; two brothers, John Christian of Dallas, TX and Dan Christian of New Orleans; two sisters, Clara London of Leonard, TX and Elizabeth Cox of Mount Pleasant, TX; eighteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

James is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Mary Christian; one son, Jamey Christian; and two brothers, Don and Albert (Buddy) Christian.
