Effie Wimley Neal
October 1, 1944 - April 18, 2019

Effie Wimley Neal, age 74 of Belvidere, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Francisco, Alabama on October 1, 1944 to the late Thomas Andrew and Lillie (Hall) Steele. Effie was the first woman to receive her Auctioneer License in the State of Tennessee, which she received on June 6, 1977. She had been employed at Wilson/Lannom Manufacturing in Tullahoma, and most recently as a Teacher Assistant at Rock Creek School by the Franklin County School System. Effie loved life and enjoyed living it, and she especially enjoyed reading and visiting with friends and family. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church and will be remembered for her kind heart…Effie was a special lady to all. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Wimley; son, John Timothy Wimley; sister, Jane Hodges; and brothers, Ronnie Steele and Donnie Steele. Effie is survived by her loving husband of thirteen years, Jim Neal of Belvidere; daughters, Lisa Snell of Winchester, Cindi Garner of Decherd, and Kandace (Alex Meadows) Wimley of Portland; grandchildren, John (Vanessa) Wimley of Belvidere, Effie (Mathew) Campbell of Coalmont, Joshua Wimley of Murfreesboro, Krystal (Sam) Henley of Sewanee, William Storm Horton of Nashville, and Serenity Garner of Decherd; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Betty (Doug) Stewart of Angle Fire, New Mexico, Dee Garner of Decherd, Pam Owens of Decherd, and Lynn (Johnny) Owens of Decherd; very special friend, Pat Thomas; and step-children, James Neal of Fayetteville, Sharon Neal of Fayetteville, and J. Neal of Hendersonville. Visitation will be from 4-8pm Saturday, April 20, 2019 at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, April 21, 2019 in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with Bro. Duane Brown and Bro. Jim Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Gardens with Pete Fuqua, Jim Thomas, John Wimley, Alex Meadows, Robert Wimley, Storm Horton, Matthew Campbell, and Jerry Garner serving as pallbearers.
