Born May 18, 1930, in Greencastle, she was the daughter of the late David William and Mary Elizabeth (Shatzer) Myers. She lived most of her life in the Greencastle area. Mrs. Davis attended Greencastle schools. She and her first husband, Kenneth Eugene Laughlin, were married Aug. 22, 1947. Mr. Laughlin died Dec. 6, 1951, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. She married Merle L. Davis on Nov. 19, 1953, in Hagerstown, and then moved to the Letzburg Road residence. Mr. Davis died April 13, 1998. Mrs. Davis entered the nursing home on Feb. 9, 2000.
Although primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Davis worked for a brief time at the packing house in Greencastle.
She was a member of Montgomery Brethren in Christ Church, Mercersburg.
She enjoyed caring for her family and taking care of her home.
Mrs. Davis is survived by three daughters, Linda D. Shelleman of Falling Waters, W.Va., Patricia A. Clever of Greenville, Tenn., and Sandra J. Stine of Waynesboro; four sons, Robert E. Laughlin, Kenneth L. Laughlin and Paul L. Davis, all of Greencastle, and M. David Davis of Chambersburg; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah K. Davis; a son, Richard A. Davis; one sister, Mary Susan Myers; and three brothers, William Henry Myers, Charles David Myers and David William Myers.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, Greencastle, with the Rev. Dennis L. Ritchey officiating. Burial will be in Montgomery Brethren in Christ Church Cemetery, Mercersburg.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
