Disse, Gertrud Petrikat Born June 6, 1907 in Labiau, Germany. She died on July 30, 2007. She came to the US to visit her sisters and see the NY World's Fair in 1939. That same year her sweetheart of 6 yrs, Karl Disse, followed her here and they were married. However the marriage was brief-about 1½yrs, as he went MIA. She became a US Citizen in 1946 & joined the Steuben Society in 1968, remaining a member until her death. She & her brother, Fritz Petrikat, started the Hendo Toy Factory in Flushing, NY, employing up to 100 people. Fritz suffered a stroke & Gertrud became ill so they gave up the toy factory in 1974 & moved to Holiday, FL. Soon after the move, Fritz died. Alone now, Gertrud moved at age 84 to a retirement home in Port Richey, FL, where she spent her final years quite happily. She is survived by a sister, Frida Hochfeld of NJ, 4 nieces, 2 nephews, their families & many loving friends. Memorial at Atria Windsor Woods, August 8th at 2pm.
