William "Pete" R. Thompson, 85, of Eudora passed away, surrounded by his family, on Friday, April 12, 2019.

Pete, the son of Alvin Thompson and Pauline McCulley Thompson, was born in Eudora on Nov. 21, 1933.

Pete married Meda Pierce on Sept. 27, 1959, and to this union three children were born.

Pete faithfully served in the U.S. Army and then went on to begin his career as a pipefitter until he retired after working for over 35 years.

After retiring, Pete enjoyed working on machinery, fixing lawn mowers and buying and selling tractors. He especially liked John Deere.

Pete liked to watch dirt track racing and sports on television. Pete also cherished his longtime fur companion, Spanky.

He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents and son Anthony "Tony" Thompson.

Pete is survived by his wife, Meda; children Twyla Lightfoot and husband Mick of Springfield and Chris Thompson and wife Amanda of Kansas; grandchildren Doug Lightfoot and wife Jessica, Ashley Ross and husband T.J., Grace Thompson and Rocco Thompson; great-grandchildren Brody Lightfoot, Anna Lightfoot, Ava Lightfoot and Solomon Ross; three sisters, Grace Yokley, Linnie McGowen and Hannah Vest; one brother, Buck Thompson; his closest friend, Adren Stockton; nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and many friends.

Visitation will be prior to the service at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, at Eudora Baptist Church, Eudora. The service will begin at 11 at the church with burial to follow in Eudora Cemetery, Eudora.
