Rosa Ellen Wheeler, 80, died early Sunday morning in a Beckley hospital after a short illness. Mrs Wheeler lived in Beckley for the past 28 years and was a member of the Calloway Baptist Church.

She was born in Tazewell County, VA to the late James "Raleigh" Linkous (1878-1936) and Frances "Fannie" Elizabeth Brown-Linkous (1876-1959). She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles D. Wheeler (Deceased); and two sisters, Bessie Lee Linkous-Hankins (1897–1963) and Ora Irene Linkous-Crickmer (1907–1950).

Survivors include one stepson, Carl Wheeler of Beckley; two sisters, Jennie Elizabeth Linkous-Christian (1905-1978) of Cedar Bluff, VA and Cora Linkous-Grimmell of Beckley; four brothers, Homer P. Linkous of Cedar Bluff, Lora "Elmer" Linkous (1909-1965) and Herman Linkous of Bandy, and Virgil Linkous of Richmond, VA; and five step grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 on Tuesday at the Hurst Scott Funeral Chapel in Richland VA with the Rev. Stanley Ash of Beckley officiating. Burial will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool, VA.
