Born in Long Beach, California on May 24, 1926 to Elmer and Mae (Keithley) Ellsworth. Wayne learned carpentry work from his father, Elmer. Wayne joined the Navy at 17 years old, only two years after starting high school. Wayne was in the Navy from 1943 to 1946. He was assigned to the USS Wichita heavy cruiser (CA-45) where is was Carpenters Mate and ship gunner. While in the Navy, he received awards such as: Victory Medal World War II, American Area, Philippine Liberation 2 stars, Asiatic Pacific 1 star, 2 bronze stars. Once he came back from serving his country he married his childhood sweetheart, Evelyn Jean Copeland on March 27, 1947. Wayne and Evelyn through the North Long Beach Foursquare Church. Wayne and Evelyn welcomed their three children into the world. Dennis, John and Wahnetta (Tootie). Evelyn stayed home tending to the children while Wayne worked in as a field engineer for Riverside Steel Construction where he retired from after 39 years. Wayne and Evelyn bought a house in Bellflower, California where they raised their children and shared their love. Wayne and Evelyn were very involved in their local church. Wayne loved family vacations especially boating, water skiing and camping at Mt. Whitney where he enjoyed hiking and fishing. Wayne is survived by his loving wife, of 72 years, Evelyn. Children: John, Nita and Craig Shea. Preceded in death by his parents, Brother Louie Ellsworth, son Dennis Wayne Ellsworth and daughter-in-law Kathy Ellsworth. Wayne also is survived by his 8 grandchildren: Shannon Lee Ellsworth, Stacy Lynn Woolley, Jason and Renee Handley, Kristin and James Thompson, Brooke and Charlie Weaver, Brittany and Andrew Brasington, Michael and Michelle Beck and Jesse William Ellsworth & 19 great grandchildren.
