Funeral services for Mr. Huey Pierce Burns will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at Mora House of Prayer, Mora, with Reverends Roger George and Loraine Smith officiating.
Interment will follow in Comrade Cemetery, Simpson, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville.
Mr. Burns, 84, of Mamou, entered eternal rest on Monday, April 22, 2019, at the V.A. Medical Center, Pineville, LA.
He was a U.S. Marine Veteran serving in the Korean War and a native of Temple, La. He was of Pentecostal faith and was a retired pipefitter with the Pipefitters and Steamfitters Local #247, of Alexandria, for fifty-one years. He was an avid deer hunter and fisherman and loved playing cards. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Pearl and David Allen Burns; five brothers, David Burns, Delano Burns, Lawrence Burns, Houston Burns and William Burns and five sisters, Willie Mae Sears, Ludie Beard, Gladys Marler, Gracie Antee and Louise Marler.
Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include two sons, Michael Glenn Burns and his wife, Dawnetta, of Atmore, AL. and Randall Lee Burns and his wife, Amanda, of Gonzales; two daughters, Karen B. Morrow and her husband, Bobby, of Gardner and Kelly B. Gaspard and her husband, Brent, Irondale, OH.; one sister, Faye Parham and her husband, Harry, of Blackstone, VA.; fourteen grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren.
Friends may call at Mora House of Prayer, on Friday, April 26, 2019, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
Pallbearers honored to serve are his grandsons, Bradlee, Mikie, Mitchell, Ean, Randall and Remington.
