Ellis White was a daughter of John White (1719-1797; son of Jonathan White and Dorcas Godfrey) whho married in Dtuchess County, New York,Tabitha Ellis (1731/2-1810; dau. of Jacob Ellis and Elizabeth Foster). John White is a fifth generation of William White and Susannah Jackson, Pilgrims who came to America on the "Mayflower", through their son, Peregrine, who was born on board the Mayflower at Provincetown Harbor before the end of Nov. 1620. Ellis, whose name was eventually spelled Allice or Alice, was born about 1775 in Dutchess County. She married Matthew Farrington in Dutchess County.

Ellis and Matthew Farrington were mentioned in her mother's 1810 willl (Dutchess Co. NY Wills C:433), "Item 5th: It is also my will that two of my cows and one yearling heifer now in possession of Ezekiel Griffin Junr., be sold and the money arising thereupon be put to an hundred dollars now due on a note against Matthew Farrington and equally divided between my sons . . . and my daughters . . . Ellis Farrington . . . . And I do have Ezekiel Griffin Jr. and Matthew Farrington Executors (Dutchess Co., NY Wills C:433, written 9 day of February, proved 2 March 1810). [MF5G Silver Books, v. 13 (William White), p. 152]

The Faringtons moved to Chautauqua County before 1830. When West Baptist Church formed 1842, the family joined as Original members, where Allice Farington is listed as having died 11/4/1844 (perhaps a typographical error, as her tombstone lists her date of death as Dec. 4, 1844.)
