Raymond Henry Hill, 85, son of William Henry and Olive Deloris Carter Hill, was born July 16, 1916, at Roubidoux. He died Sept. 7, 2001, at Lester E. Cox Medical Center South in Springfield.
He married Helen Marie Wendt Aug. 16, 1941, at Plato. They were married 53 years before her death in 1994. They had five children.
He was a TV repairman at Plato and Houston. Following his retirement, he worked with wood, making kitchen cabinets for the Licking Christian Church, Hillsboro Christian Church and family and friends.
He was a member of the Roby Christian Church, First Christian Church in Houston and for the last eight years at the Licking Christian Church, where he was an elder and worked with the youth department. Several of "his" youth visited him in the hospital.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ella; his parents; a brother, John; and a sister, Ethel Marie.
Surviving are one son, Keith of Warsaw; three daughters, Barbara Hebblethwaite of Licking, Beverly Barrett of Champaign, Ill., and Carolyn Vogel of Hillsboro; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services were Sept. 10 at the Licking Christian Church with Rick Mosher officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
