Harris A. La Chapelle, 57, 1030 12th Ave., died Saturday morning in a Green Bay hospitaL
He was born June 27, 1912 in Green Bay, and has been a lifelong resident. He is a graduate of West High School and the University of Wisconsin School of Engineering. He served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Mr. La Chapelle was chief engineer and industrial development manager for the Green Bay and Western Railroad. He was a member of Washington Lodge No. 21 F. and A.M., the Elks Lodge, Fox River Valley chapter of the National Society of Engineering, the South Side Civic Association, the Green Bay Association of Commerce. He was also a former elder and trustee of the first Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife, the former Mary Jane Walters to whom he was married May 28, 1942. He is also survived by one son Gary W., Inspiration, Ariz.; four daughters, Miss Gail, of Madison, Mary, Martha and Jane, at home; his mother, Mrs. Peter La Chapelle of Green Bay; three brothers, Stuart and Kermit, both of Green Bay, and a twin brother Harvey of Wisconsin Rapids. Another brother Merle preceded him in death in 1964.
At Lyndahl Funeral Home after 7 p.m. tonight. Funeral 11 a.m., Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church. Burial in Nico- let Memorial Gardens. Masonic Lodge memorial service 7 p.m., Monday and Elks memorial service 7:45 p.m., Monday.
