She was educated in the Accomack County Public School system. Frances was employed at Perdue Farms in Accomac, Virginia and retired after 15 years of service. She later began working at Royal Farms in Parksley, as a cook, before her illness.
Frances attended First Baptist Church in Mappsville at an early age, under the pastorate of Rev. Boone. She later rejoined under Rev. James I. Boyd.
“Bun”, as she was affectionately known, was a good provider for her family. She was a warm, caring person that opened her home to family and friends. She enjoyed fishing, and loved kids; your kids were her kids. Most of all she loved to sing for the Lord. Bun was one of the lead singers for the group “The Miracle Workers” of Virginia. Her favorite meal was chicken and dumplings, and she also loved clams. She lived a full and rich life for 62 years.
She leaves to cherish her memories: eleven sisters, Dorthery (Warren) Mitchell of Blackwood, NJ, Mary Garvin, Rhonda (Walter) Dickerson, Jennie (Willie) Tumblin, Grace (Bobby) Byrd, Deborah Smith, Lillie (Fred) Abbott, Carrie (Cleophas) Shrieves, Barbara (Keith) Kelly, Vandora (Albert) Bateman, and Annette Chaney; one brother, Johnny Abbott, Jr., all of Virginia; five godchildren, Karen Hunter, Antonio Walker, TaKeyah Mason, Cormaine Miller, and Dijon Abbott; one adoptive daughter, Malissa Mason; three special friends, Amber Trader, Van Blake, and Mary Ann Clayton; she honored a very special niece, Deborah (Meka) Abbott; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
