Cecil Melvin Purswell, 90, of Channelview, Texas was born in Liberty, Texas on August 6, 1928 to parents Mittie Lavinia Rives and Clarence Columbus Purswell and entered into rest on Saturday, April 27, 2019.

On June 28, 1949, Cecil and Virginia Belle "Jigger" Purswell were married. He will be remembered for being friendly, hardworking, old fashioned, and sometimes hard-headed. In his spare time, Cecil loved hunting, fishing, and gardening.

Cecil is survived by his loving wife of almost 70 years, Virginia "Jigger" Purswell; sons, Melvin Purswell, Edwin Purswell, and David Purswell; sister, Barbara Henderson; brothers, Jimmy and Ozell Purswell; grandchildren, Virginia Kay Mims and Joey L. Purswell; great grandchildren, Gracie Mims, Vera Purswell, and Turner Purswell; and special friends, the Capps Family.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at San Jacinto Funeral Home from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at 10:00am at San Jacinto Funeral Home with Brother Danny Kilcoyne presiding over services, interment will follow the service on grounds at San Jacinto Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers are Calvin Capps, James Henderson, William Montgomery, Joey Purswell, Arthur Mims, and Ronnie Galloway.
