Son of John and Ruth (Brown) Allgire (also Algire, Allgier, Algier, Allgeyer, Algeyer). Date of birth does not appear to be recorded, but thought to be between 1770 and 1780. Jacob and his brother, John, removed to Ohio in the early 19th century. Married Sarah Stevenson, a daughter of John and Mary (Havener) Stevenson, around 1808.

The couple had 11 known children:

After Jacob's death, Sarah married Amos Davis in Franklin County, OH, on Feb. 8, 1844, and was last enumerated on the 1860 US Census living in Putnam County, OH.
