Janet Bell King Van Fossen Beardmore, 79, of County House Lane, Marietta, died at 2:30 a.m. Sunday (April 15, 2007) at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
She was born June 13, 1927, in Washington County, Ohio, to Glenn Joshua King and Mildred Leah Heslop King. Janet was a member of Second Congregational Church and also attended Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Marietta High School with the class of 1945, and retired as a secretary from the Math and Physics Department of Marietta College.
On Oct. 30, 1947, she married James Van Fossen, who preceded her in death in 1998. Janet is survived by two sons, James Gary (Jan) Van Fossen of Marietta and Gregory (Jennifer) Van Fossen of Marietta. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Melody (Luke Castin), Benjamin, Amber, and Bradley; and great-grandchild, Aria Castin.
On Feb. 15, 1999, she married Delbert Beardmore, who survives with stepson, Kevin (Jackie) Beardmore of Newburgh, Ind., and stepdaughter, Cindy (Richard) Erb of Stanleyville; eight stepgrandchildren, Matthew, Samuel, Elias, and Charlie Beardmore, and Benjamin, Audrey, Cordell, and Faith Erb; sister, Betty (George) Fara of Soddy Daisy, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and first husband, James.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with pastors Lou Verdi and Richard Saltzwedel officiating. Burial will be in Valley Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
