Alice C. Free, age 91, formerly of 6924 CTH JJ, Manitowoc, died early Thursday morning April 22, 1999, at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 24, 1999, at First German Ev. Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. Rev. Joel Otto will officiate. Burial will take place on Monday at Knollwood Memorial Gardens, township of Kossuth.
Alice was born August 21, 1907, at Valders, daughter of the late Albert and Mary Olson Alfson. She grew up and was educated in Valders. Alice married Raymond F. Free June 22, 1929, at First German Ev. Lutheran Church with Rev. Karl Machmiller officiating. Raymond preceded her in death November 22, 1983. She and her husband farmed in the township of Manitowoc Rapids for many years. She lived in the township of Rapids from the time of her marriage until moving to Shady Lane Home August 6, 1993. Alice also cooked at the Manitowoc Elks Club for about 10 years. She is a member of First German Ev. Lutheran Church.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Gerald E. and Judith Fre, Town of Menasha, Wis.; five grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three step-great grandchildren; a special foster son, Greg Hauschultz, Two Rivers; one sister, Luella Espen, West Bend, Wis.; one brother-in-law, Robert Schad, Mishicot; one sister-in-law, Eileen Alfson, Manitowoc; a host of nieces and nephews plus many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond in 1983; one son, Roger, in 1932; two brothers and three sisters.
Relatives and friends may call at Reinbold & Pfeffer Ninth Street Chapel, from 4-7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at church, from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m.
Memorials would be appreciated to First German Ev. Lutheran Church or Manitowoc Lutheran High School.
