Eleanor Ann Von Bargen was born June 17,1934 in Alliance, Nebraska, and passed away in Loveland, Colorado on April 29, 2019. Her parents were Emil and Esther (Nielsen) Von Bargen.

Eleanor attended rural country school and high school in Hemingford, Nebraska. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Nebraska in 1956, and later earned a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Colorado. Eleanor taught elementary education with Denver Public Schools until her retirement.

Throughout her retirement, Eleanor was an active member of the Colorado Native Plant Society, and assisted in the publication of a book on Rare Colorado plants. She was also an active volunteer at the Denver Botanic Garden’s herbarium department. Books and plants gave Eleanor great joy throughout her life!

Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her brother, Kenneth (Ernestine) Von Bargen of Lincoln, NE; niece, Jill Ieppert (David) of Ballwin, MO; nephew, Brian Von Bargen of Severance, CO; niece, Lisa Von Bargen (Kenneth Schwarz) of Estes Park, CO and their sons, AJ., Zachary and Chase.
