Lucia Houston Hull HOBSON Stokes was the daughter of Grizelda Houston HULL Hobson and Rear Admiral Richmond Pearson Hobson. She was the granddaughter of Lucia Eugene HOUSTON Hull and George Huntington Hull; as well as Sarah Croom PEARSON Hobson and Judge James Marcellus Hobson. Lucia was raised with two brothers: Richmond Pearson Hobson, Jr, born in 1906, and George Hull Hobson, born in 1910.
On Aug 16, 1938, Lucia married William Earl Dodge Stokes, Jr and they spent 53 years together before her death in 1991.

Found in the Schenectady Gazette, July 6, 1970: "Mrs. Stokes, a native of Washington, D.C., is the daughter of the late Rear Adm. Richmond Pearson Hobson, for many years congressman from Alabama. With an artistic bent, she attended the New York School of Applied Design and the Chouinard School of Art in Los Angeles, where she studied costume design at the University of California before opening an historical costume shop in New York."
