Ziba's grave marker, which is shared with her husband and his 1st wife, has her birth year as 1859. She was 7 years old in the 1860 census. She was 46, living with her brother, Robert, in the 1900 census with her birth date as March 1854. Her death certificate shows ‘abt 1855'. Her age was listed as 73 in the 1930 census and her age at 1st marriage was 55. Since she was in the 1910 census as Edward's wife and he was her only husband, and she was 55 at that time, then she could not have been born in 1859. The 1859 date on the marker is an error in engraving the 9 should have been a 4.
In 1930 Edward, Ziba and Edward's brother Eligah were living with Edward's son Lonnie. The 1930 census was taken on April 3. Ziba passed 8 days later of Influenza. Eligah passed the 1st of July. I wonder if the census enumerator was a ‘carrier' for the flu that year. Interestingly the enumerator was Nathaniel R. Carrington, a relative of Julian Thomas Carrington, the husband of Lorena Ethel Roberts, daughter of Mack P. Roberts.
