Alexa was born September 29, 2000 in Bismarck, ND to Than and Charlotte (Mathern) Young. She attended Napoleon Public School and was on track to graduate on May19, 2019 as the class Valedictorian. She was active in the FFA, Deca, golf, basketball and volleyball. She was also an active member of the St. Philip Neri Catholic Church.
Alexa grew up with four siblings: Andrew, Mikayla, MiaLara and Alyssa. She loved being with her family no matter the situation or place, whether it was family vacations from New York City to New Zeeland, Easter Egg Hunts arranged by her dad, adoration with her mom or biking miles across the state with her sister. As her family was preparing to say goodbye, they each chose a word to describe their little girl and sister. The words they chose: Silly, snarky, witty, smart, spiritual, beautiful, athletic, loving and devoted. Alexa’s passionate heart, radiant smile and beautiful way of treating others was cherished while she was here and will be missed by many.
Alexa left us on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 surrounded by her family. Alexa was 18 years old.
Alexa is survived by her parents, Than and Charlotte, her siblings, Andrew (Jeremy), Mikayla, MiaLara, Alyssa, her grandparents, Jim and Sally Mathern and Marcia Young, many aunts, uncles and cousins including her Godparents Tim and Lisa Long. She was preceded in death by her brother, Marcus James, Aunt Ahn Young and Grandfather, John Young.
