John James Bulluss, 80, a resident of Ocean Shores, for the past 17 years, passed away on Monday, June 11, 2007, at his home in Ocean Shores. He was born on Dec. 18, 1926, in Meriden, Conn., to Elizabeth (Mellon) and Joseph Francis Bulluss.
He attended St. Rose Parochial School Meriden and graduated from Meriden High School in 1944. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1944, as a gunner on merchant ships. Two ships were sunk on which he served and he was particularly fond of his service aboard the U.S.S. William B. Allison. He kept in touch with several of his shipmates. After his discharge in 1946, John attended RCA Institute in New York City and there he graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering.
John James Bulluss was married to Helen Mihalko in 1948, and they were later divorced.
John attended St. Jerome's Catholic Church at Hogans Corner in Ocean Shores and was a member of the Armed Guard Association. He had an avid interest in Ocean Shores' politics and was often a thorn in the sides of the local administration.
One of his greatest pleasures was his time as an extra on the TV show, "Northern Exposure".
John is survived by his son, Michael Bulluss and his wife, Lori of Bozeman, Mont.; his granddaughter, Stephanie Bulluss of Bozeman, Mont.; his sister, Josephine Fournier of Connecticut; his sister-in-law, Irene Hamler of Connecticut; his life partner, Nicky Anderson of the family home in Ocean Shores.
The family has requested donations be sent to Harbors Home Health and Hospice, 207 7th Street, Hoquiam, WA 98550 or to the United States Navy Armed Guard, World War Two Veterans, 115 Wall Creek Drive in Roleville, North Carolina 27571.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., on Wednesday, June 13, 2007, and Thursday, June 14, 2007, at Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m., Friday, June 15, 2007, at St. Jerome Catholic Church at Hogans Corner with Father Steve Roman as the presiding celebrant.
Gravesite services with military honors will be held on Monday, June 18, 2007, at 12:30 p.m., at the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent.
