RACINE - Cecelia (nee: Navratil) A. Rasmussen, age 85, passed away peacefully the evening of December 28, 2006, while a Hospice patient at Wheaton Franciscan Health Care-All Saints. Born March 26, 1921, Cecelia was the third of 9 Navratil children born to the late Henry and Cecelia (nee: Devine) Navratil.

On April 24, 1942, she was united in marriage to Alvin 'Al' P. Rasmussen, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Racine, where she was still a member. He preceded her in death on July 3, 1966.

She was a Racine resident all her life. She attended St. John Nepomuk Grade School, Washington Junior High School and Horlick High School, graduating in 1939. After high school, she worked at Johnson Wax and Hamilton Beach.

Cecelia is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Linda Rasmussen; daughter, Judith Rasmussen, all of Racine; son and daughter-in-law Mark and Barbara Rasmussen of Neenah; 7 grandchildren, Eric of Green Bay; Amy and Kurt of Racine; Brian of Austin, Texas, Heather, Kayla and Kai of Neenah; great-grand daughter, Cali Hegeman of Racine; brother and sister-in-law, Harry and Sally Navratil, Racine; sisters, Rosemary Hughes of Mequon and Catherine Brook of Racine; sisters-in-law, Maripat Navratil and Rose Navratil of Racine, Gretchen Stifler of Diamondhead, Miss. and Maragaret Rasmussen of Racine. She is further survived by many loving nieces and nephews and dear and caring friends.

In addition to her husband, Cecelia was also preceded in death by 5 brothers, Frank, Bernard, Thomas, William and James Navratil; and a host of in-laws.

In honoring Cecelia's request, cremation has taken place. Private burial services will take place on Friday, January 5, 2006, at Calvary Cemetery. A Mass of Remembrance will be celebrated on Saturday, January 6, 2006, at 11 AM at St. Mary by the Lake Catholic Church, 7605 Lakeshore Dr, Racine, with the Reverend Stephen Stradinger officiating. Relatives, friends and acquaintances are invited to meet with the family at the church from 9:30 AM until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association, the American Heart Association or the Roosevelt Elementary School Library.

The family would like to extended special thanks to Chris B. at Lincoln Villa North, her home for many years, as well as Wheaton Franciscan Health Care-All saints staff members Doctors Asani, Weiss, and LeSage; the nursing staffs of ICU and the second floor, especially Unit 2D; and Jackie, Julie, and Kathy of the Hospice Program for the compassionate and loving care she received since her December 1st hospitalization.
