A. Clyde Ward, 65, of 308 1/2 Shepherd Street, died early Wednesday in a local hospital after an extended illness.
Mr. Ward was a native and lifelong resident of Henderson County, son of the late Joseph Warren and Mary Louisa Mullinax Ward.
He was a construction superintendent for Able Construction Company, Greenville, S.C., prior to his retirement last year.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Mud Creek Baptist Church, of which he was a member.
The Rev. Frank Carter and the Rev. Robert Couch will officiate. Burial will be in Ward Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Doug, David and Norman Bane, Mack and Malvern Morgan and Fred Beddingfield.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Joseph P. Bailey, Laird Staley, Paul Kinnett and Tom Able Jr.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Lanetta Davis Ward; one son, Harold S. Ward of San Pedro, California; one daughter, Miss Jo Ann Ward of the home; one sister, Mrs. Nellie Peace, one half-brother, Johnny Ward, two half-sisters, Mrs. Maude S. Ward and Mrs. Cora Metcalf, all of Hendersonville; and two grandchildren.
The body will lie in state at the church 30 minutes prior to the services.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Thos. Shepherd and Son Funeral Home.
