Darwin T. Aaberg, 95, of Waukee, died Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at the Adel Acres Care Center in Adel.

Darwin was born on October 7, 1923, in Wadena, MN, son of the late Thomas and Alma (Grimley) Aaberg. He received his education in Wadena where he graduated from high school. He then entered the United States Army, serving his country during World War II. He married Wanee Tarpley on November 6, 1944, in Abilene, TX. Following his discharge they returned to Minnesota and Darwin attended Dunwoody Institute of Technology and became a Draftsman.
Darwin and Wanee moved to Sibley, IA where he managed a lumber company before taking a job with Fullerton Lumber Company in Avoca, IA. He was later transferred to Monmouth, IL where he continued helping to design a local housing project and design the company headquarters.

For the past 15 years, he has made his home in Waukee to be closer to family.

Darwin enjoyed golf, fishing and putting puzzles together.

He was preceded in death by his wife Wanee and a brother Robert.

Darwin is survived by two daughters, Brenda (Chet) Chedester of Waukee and Janet (Jim) Phelps of Mason City, IA, three grandchildren, Jim "Jimbo" (Shondelle) Phelps, Jr. of Mason City and Charlie (Jennie) Chedester and Kim (Aaron) Powell of Des Moines; and several great-grandchildren.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
