Wife of PFC Dewey Luderus US Army

Elizabeth Luderus lived an incredible life with her time here on earth. She was a dedicated wife to her loving husband, Dewey Luderus, and mother to her four boys, grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

Elizabeth had a full work life with three separate careers: the first as a civil servant at Lackland Air Force base; Elizabeth then worked as a legal secretary at the law firm of Stewart Alexander while she simultaneously worked toward obtaining her degrees in Criminal Justice (Associate’s at San Antonio College and Bachelor’s at UTSA); this lead to Elizabeth’s third career and obvious passion of working to help many of the otherwise forgotten members of our society through her Counseling work. Elizabeth earned her Master's degree in Counseling, also from UTSA, and then obtained and maintained two state counseling licenses: Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC), which she put to great use for years doing what could well be described as God’s work – in her own way, of course.

It was Elizabeth’s calling in life to help people. She worked tirelessly for those that needed help the most, to include her paid work with the incarcerated populations and her volunteer work at the Battered Women's Shelter, and the Children's Shelter (an orphanage for abused children). Elizabeth’s heart was boundless in bestowing her compassion and care. Anyone who spent any time with Elizabeth during these years would hear of the unrelenting challenges faced by these individuals but also her dedication to finding and working toward the best paths forward to a successful life. Elizabeth finished this last career as the lead counselor at the Dominguez State Jail; retiring at 82 years old.

Throughout her life, Elizabeth was a dedicated Christian and Catholic. Elizabeth was a member of Victory Temple, a small west-side bible-based church and Saint Dominic's Catholic Church. Elizabeth received Last Rites from longtime family friend Father John Markey.

There is no way to measure or accurately convey the impact Elizabeth had improving hundred’s of people's lives. Elizabeth is loved beyond measure and her absence will be felt and missed for years to come.
