Bettie Black, 82, of San Antonio passed away May 12, 2019 at Parklane West Healthcare Center in San Antonio. She was born August 26, 1936 in Iredell, the daughter of Virgil and Ruth Huckaby.

She grew up in Hillsboro and was a 1954 graduate of Hillsboro High School where she was a cheerleader for the Hillsboro Eagles. She later attended Four C's Business College in Waco.

On September 30, 1955, Bettie was united in marriage to Richard W. Black in Hillsboro. A devoted wife of a career United States Air Force Colonel, Bettie traveled all over the world with Richard during his military career. She was an executive secretary for USAA Insurance Company in San Antonio for 10 years before retiring in 1990. She enjoyed crocheting, reading and was an avid animal lover, especially to dogs. Bettie was of the Methodist faith.

Preceding her in death were her parents and sister, Doris Eubanks. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Richard W. Black of San Antonio.

Graveside services will be held May 17, 2019 at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro...M_M
