Melvin E. Heacock, 95, a resident of Gooding, passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Stonebridge Assisted Living in Wendell.

Melvin was born on May 8, 1923 in American Falls, Idaho, the son of John and Ellen Heacock. He was raised and educated in Iowa before moving back to Idaho with his family.

He served his country during W.W. II with the U.S. Army working in communications. Melvin married May L. Naser on May 16, 1950 in Elko, Nevada. Melvin joined the Air Force Reserves in October of 1950, later being inducted into the Air Force working again in communications.

At the time of his retirement from the Air Force they made their home in Tacoma, Washington, they later moved to Fairfield in 1980. They later settled in Gooding where they have since resided.

Melvin is survived by: his wife, May Heacock of Gooding; two sons, Melvin L. (Carolyn) Heacock of Tacoma, Washington and Allen Roy (Jane) Heacock of Andover, Illinois; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

A memorial service for Melvin will be held on Monday, July 16, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Gooding Springs Calvary Church – 1220 Montana Street in Gooding with Pastor Dave Rose officiating. Services will conclude at the church.
