Daughter of Thomas N. Barbee & Susan Morgan

1st Married Elisha Thomas Haynes (1852-1899) on 24 May 1877 in Coahoma County, MS

They had at least nine known children. After Elisha died she remarried to William Benjamin Sanders (a widower with several children, as his wife Sallie Mary Fletcher had died)and he met and married Ophelia after his wife had passed away. Ophelia operated a boarding house in Denton, Coahoma Co, MS after Elisha died and that is where she met her 2nd husband William Benjamin Sanders. One of Mr. Sanders daughters, Helen Josephine Sanders, later married Ophelia and E.T. Haynes’s son, Wendell Thomas Haynes Sr.

Amelia Barbee-Haynes (sister of Ophelia, who had married Andrew J Haynes) and John Elijah Barbee (who had several wives and most buried in Barbee Cemetery also). Ophelia's sister, Amelia Barbee-Haynes, is also buried in the Barbee Cemetery.

Ophelia was thought to have died in Lambert, Quitman County, MS and was brought back to Barbee Cemetery to be buried by her parents & Barbee family and her 1st husband: Elisha Thomas Haynes. However, after she remarried she is found listed as a housekeeper(listed as surname Sanders)in 1910 census in Memphis, Tennessee (her daughter Luna Haynes-Gossett & unmarried daughter Blanch Haynes and a niece and some boarders living with her). I also found a death record in Memphis indicating she died there of gall stone complications and this death record did not get recorded until 1911 and states she died Nov 15, 1910 as Ophelia Sanders and was brought back to Barbee Cemetery for burial.
