Donald Blaine “Donnie” Dean, loving husband and father, died peacefully at Opelousas General surrounded by his wife and children on Friday, May 17. Friends and family will remember Donnie for his quick wit, sense of humor, storytelling, and as a hunter, bass fisherman and respectful outdoorsman. His craftsmanship as a woodworker was admired by many. He was a well-respected employee of ExxonMobil for 32 years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Monette McLeod Dean of Opelousas, his sons, Layne Matthew Dean and his wife, Mechelle of Nederland, Texas, Monty McLeod Dean and his wife, Adrianna of St. Martinville, and Michael Ross Dean and his wife, Blyss of Church Point, and daughter, Karen Dean Aguillard and her husband, Dustin of Lafayette, brothers, Douglas “Dougie” Dean and his wife, Tina of Opelousas, William “Billy” Dean and his wife, Jane of Baton Rouge, and James “Jay” Dean and his wife, Pokie of Longview, Texas, sisters, Betty Louise “Weesie “ Rozas and her husband, Nicky of Sunset, grandchildren, Chase Brasseaux Dean, Bailey Elizabeth Dean, Jesse Blaine Dean, Norah Elizabeth Dean, Roan Matthew Dean, Wren Elizabeth Aguillard, and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Dorothy Dean, son, Garrett Blaine Dean, and brothers, Frank Dean, Jr., and Greg Dean.
