Jean S. Young, 90, of Oklahoma Borough, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007, in Alle-Kiski Medical Center, Natrona Heights. She was born Feb. 23, 1916, in Edgeworth, to the late John and Minnie Elizabeth (Ross) Beattie, and lived in the Kiski Valley all of her life. She was a homemaker and a graduate of Vandergrift High School, class of 1934. She was a member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oklahoma Borough, where she was a charter member, and she enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Beattie; two sisters, Evelyn Shirey and Dora Alcorn. She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Lester Young, of Oklahoma Borough; three daughters, Connie Young, of Oklahoma Borough, Joyce (Dr. Frank) Cignetti, of Washington Township, and Linda (Michael) Zerby, of Washington Township; a son, Robert (Mary Alice) Young, of Baden; 11 grandchildren, Robert, David, Daniel and William Young, Laura (Young) Olczak, Tonya (Cignetti) Thornton, Todd and Timothy Cignetti, Lorinda (Zerby) Learn, and Michael and Stephen Zerby; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Minnie Benamati, of Alabama, and Mae Busnardo, of New Jersey. Visitation from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the CURRAN-SHAFFER FUNERAL HOME, Apollo PA. Additional visitation will be from 10 until services at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oklahoma Borough, with the Rev. Keith Deckinger officiating. Burial in Vandergrift Cemetery, Vandergrift.
