Marvin "Mike" Achterhof of Muskegon, age 77, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 2, 1999.

He was born on November 10th, 1921 in Holland, Michigan to Harry and Sena (Weigerink) Achterhof. He was the youngest of eight siblings in which all preceded in death.

Marvin married Margurite "Jean" Hackey in Muskegon, Michigan on March 1, 1945.

Marvin was a retiree of Shaw-Walker after 35 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a member of the VFW Post 3195. He also was of Orchard View Congregational Church and was a volunteer driver for the Cancer Society and Meals on Wheels.

Surviving him are his wife, Jean and their 3 children, Lee (Ruth Ann) Achterhof of Clearwater Beach, FL, Mark (Barbara) Achterhof of Muskegon, and Todd (Ellen) Achterhof of Muskegon and their 6 grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Ever Rest Funeral Home & Chapel, 1783 E. Keating, with Rev. Craig D. Cramblet officiating.

There will be full military rites immediately following the service. Interment will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.

Relatives and friends may meet his family from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Wednesday at the chapel.

For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to the Muskegon Chapter Cancer Society Transportation Service and Orchard View Congregational Church.
