The Franklin (St Mary) Banner of the 7 th says: "Yesterday and last night, we had refreshing rains in the vicinity of Franklin. Last Monday, Mr William Garrett, on Bayou Sale, commenced sugar making."

"In the year 1856, he married Miss Virginia Garret, daughter of the late William Garret, a Sugar Planter on Bayou Sale in this Parish. She died in the year 1887."

Succession Sale - of John J Garrett, deceased
Certain tract of land or sugar plantation whereon the deceased resided, situated on the Bayou Sale, about 5 miles from the Village of Centreville, containing about 1100 arpents of land, about 250 of which is in a high state of cultivation, with all the necessary buildings and improvements. Said place is bounded above and below by the lands of David Berwick. There is a crop of cane sufficient to produce 200 hogsheads of sugar already planted for the present year.

Also - a trace of wood land, containing about 180 acres, situated in the rear of said plantation and lands of William Garrett, known as the Hawkins Tract.
