She married Walter Armstrong Ingalls. He was born in Scotland. He was 63 according to the 1880 U.S. Census (they were in Walpole, MA). That would be a birth year around 1817. He was about 10 years older than Caroline. Walter died prior to 1890 when Caroline and his son, Walter, got a pension.

Walter served in Mass. Co. A, Reg. 24 (Civil War). Walter is in the G.A.R. plot at the Riverside Cemetery in Saugus, MA.
