Claunch, Jackson "Jack"
Owner Of Tennessee Valley Exterminating Company
Sunday, May 20, 2007

Jackson "Jack" Claunch, 68, of Chattanooga, died on Friday, May 18, 2007 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Jack was the owner/operator of Tennessee Valley Exterminating Company. He served in the U.S. Air Force.

He had numerous other ventures in his life, but his greatest accomplishment was being a loving and devout Christian husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a trusted friend and father figure to many. Jack never met a stranger and was so very giving to anyone who touched his life. He truly left his mark in this life and has earned his place in heaven as a man who loved the Lord. His favorite quote from scripture as he would say to us now, "This too shall pass." He will be truly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years, Reba Claunch; daughters, Nanette and husband Talmadge Jaco of Horn Lake, Ms., and Angela and husband Shaun Brooks of Red Bank; sons, Joshua Brandon Claunch and Robert Lawrence Claunch, both of Chattanooga; sister, Shirley Gallagher, Memphis; brother, Robert Lawrence Claunch of Brownsville, Tn.; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Almost 12 years. Has it really been that long? My goodness, in some ways it seems just like it was yesterday. Daddy I miss you so much. Yes I've learned how to cope and manage just fine without you but there's still a big empty place within me. Bizarre how after all these years I find myself wanting to pick up the phone and dial your office number 423-870-$5#5 (how do I remember that?) just to hear your voice. You would pat me a little on the back or occasionally hug me in a very careful, gentle open-handed manner. Almost as if you were afraid you would invade my space or maybe you thought I might break, I don't know. We used to sit together at the table and you would what I then called lecture to me for what I thought was forever and with me sometimes having trouble staying awake. Wish I'd listened harder. All those words branded in my mind are now a blur. You could talk for hours on end about Jesus and his saving grace. I'm so extremely proud that I'm among those who can say with complete confidence that my daddy is in heaven with Jesus. Daddy I miss you so much, your broad shoulders, your kindness to all who met you, your gentle touch, your caring words. All of that but the thing I miss the absolute most is your voice. It was so deep that it rumbled through the house when you spoke, almost like I could feel it better than hear it, so much base.
