He was in command of the Northampton soldiers in the Falls Fight above Deerfield May 18, 1676.

Husband of Dorcas Plumb Lyman, the daughter of John Plumb and Dorthy Chaplin Plumb, on January 12, 1654(5).

He was the son of Richard Lyman and Sarah Osborne Lyman.

Children: Elizabeth Lyman Leonard, Sarah Lyman Wright, John Lyman Jr, Moses Lyman(father of Moses Lyman Jr), Dorothy Lyman, Mary Lyman Hall, Experience Lyman, Joseph Lyman, Benjamin Lyman(husband of Thankful Pomeroy Lyman), and Caleb Lyman.
