A native of Boykins, he was the husband of Mrs. Vivian K. Ryland and a son of the late Robert H. and Mrs. Harriet M. Ryland.
He was a superintendent of beach installation for a Virginia Beach plastering company. He was an army veteran of the Korean War.
He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, Boykins.
Besides his widow, surviving are a stepson, Reginald R. King of Norfolk; a daughter, Miss Abagail J. King of Roanoke; four sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Person, Mrs. Ruby Leigh, and Mrs. Ellena Oden of Washington and Mrs. Virginia Batts of Norfolk; and two brothers, Collins Ryland of Washington and Norton Ryland of Norfolk.
A funeral service will be held Sunday at noon in Shiloh Baptist Church by the Rev. John W. Brown. Burial will be in Shiloh Church Cemetery with Fitchett Funeral Home in charge.
The family will assemble at 1533 W. 39th St.
