Silas Monroe Poland was the son of Margaret Gilmore Poland. Most of Silas' family are buried in Cowlitz County, WA. He was 19 months old when Margaret and Alexander married in May of 1873.

He married Anna Huntington 16 May 1903 in Kalama, Washington.
Anna was married before her marriage to Silas.

They had 2 children: Ada Marguerite Jan 04, 1906 Kelso
William H. 1908 Eastern Oregon

Anna and Silas divorced.
