Ella Ward Poland was born in Shawnee, Johnson County, Kansas, September 17, 1879, moved to Cowlitz County with her parents two years later and was married in 1899 to E. W. Randall. To this union was born two daughters and in January 1903 Mr. Randall departed this life. On November 29, 1905 , Mrs. Randall was married to George Hill, of Catlin.
She began the Christian life and united with the Methodist Episcopal church, some ten years ago, of which church she remained a faithful member till her death.
The esteem in which Mrs. Hill was held in the community was indicated by the large concourse at the funeral and the many friends that followed her to the tomb, among whom were the Rebekah's, of which she was a member.
The funeral services were held at the Kelso Methodist Episcopal, the pastor, the Rev. F. L. Moore officiating. He took for his text "I shall be satisfied when I awake in His likeness;" the choir sang softly "Asleep in Jesus," "Nearer My God to Thee" and "Come ye Disconsolate." Many floral tributes, both rich and beautiful, decked the casket and grave.
Mr. Hill and the other relatives have the sincere sympathy of their many friends.
