Carrie and her husband were in process of moving to Laurelwood, a Seventh Day Adventist community outside of Gaston, Oregon. She moved there and began working in the laundry for the school and Carl was to come later. However, he was killed in a sawmill accident in Siletz, Oregon before he was able to make the move. Carrie worked as the manager for the school laundry until she retired. She loved growing things and although she couldn't get down to garden she had help and especially loved her pansies and indoors she loved her African violets.
