Kate was born on February 17, 1977, in Shelby to William Gordon and Mary Lynn (Wolting) Seid and married her best friend and love of her life Michael Duane Abbott on June 23, 2012. Their daughter Pearyn Ensley Abbott was born in 2014 and was the greatest joy of Kate's life. She earned her bachelor's degree from Hope College and her master's degree from Western Michigan University. She was an elementary art teacher at Coopersville and she loved her students and friends dearly. Kate and her family attended the Resonate Church in Newaygo. Kate spread happiness everywhere she went with her sunny personality and beautiful laugh.

Besides her husband and daughter, Kate is survived by her parents Bill and Mary Lynn Seid; sister and brother, Kristin (Brian) Toberman and David Seid; grandmother, Doris Wolting; mother and father in-law, Michael and Marikay Abbott; brothers-in-law Mitch (Amy) Abbott and Marshal Abbott; nephews, Mike and Joe Seid; niece, Addisyn Abbott; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other family members, and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Rev. William and Mary Jane Seid and Joe Wolting; and her aunt, Ruth Prince.

A visitation and time to meet with the family will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2019, from 5 PM to 8 PM at the Crandell Funeral Home in Fremont. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery. For a more lasting memorial, friends are asked to make contributions to the college fund for Pearyn Ensley Abbott or in Kate’s name to the Resonate Church in Newaygo.
