Mr. Danny Wayne Finger age 70 of Lincolnton, NC, passed away in the early morning hours of Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Lincolnton Rehabilitation Center after battling cancer.
Born March 27, 1949 in Newton, NC in Catawba County, Mr. Finger graduated from Bandys High School in 1967. He entered the Air Force, serving briefly in Vietnam as a Security Police dog handler. After leaving the Air Force, Mr. Finger served in the Navy from which he retired, serving a total of nearly 21 years.
Mr. Finger enjoyed motorsports and auto clubs, the most recent being his participation in the ministry of the Christian Motorcyclists Association. He dearly loved his church, Mt. Ruhama Baptist Church. He was an avid dog lover and favored golden retrievers and boxers.
Mr. Finger is preceded in death by his parents Charles Mickey Finger (Mick) and Alice Ann Hollar Finger; his sister, Vickie Diane Hoke; his aunts Ruth (Duke) Finger Mills and Doris Finger McCasllin.
Mr. Finger is survived by his only child, Julie Michelle Finger and her partner Erica Collins; by his former wife Vicky Murray Rhinehardt; his brother David Anthony Finger and his wife Connie Sprouse, their children Zackary Boone Finger and Mary Allyson Cantrell; nephews and niece Tracy Lee Hoke, Wendy Dawn Hoke Bright and Kelly Dwayne Hoke; his aunt and uncle Janice Finger Trouille and Ken Trouille, along with many cousins and grandnieces and grandnephews and his special friend Cindy Cagle.
The funeral service will be held, Monday, May 27, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Mt. Ruhama Baptist Church in Maiden with Rev. Michael Staton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by American Legion Post 16 Newton.
