Her husband, Edward Gene Abel, preceded her in death in 2016.
Survivors include her two daughters, Jenny Shamblin and Christine Rhodes (Bob) of Terre Haute; a son, Joe Abel (Donna) of Ohio; four brothers, Benny Burdick, John Burdick, Joe Burdick (Leslie) and Jim Burdick (Ellen); and four sisters, Jane McDaniel, Linda Lambert (Cliff), Rosemary Krieble (Randy) and Peggy Clifton (Larry). Also surviving are five grandchildren, Maggie Shamblin, Kelly McWhinney (Timothy), Grace Rhodes, Conor Abel and Caitlin Abel; and many nieces and nephews.
Dolores was a graduate of Schulte High School and received her bachelor's degree from St. Mary-of-the-Woods College. She had worked as a bank teller at Regions Bank and spent time in her later years working as a teaching aide at Woodrow Wilson Middle School.
A private graveside service will be held in Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home
