Gerald “Jerry” Palmer, age 71, passed Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at his home in Beattyville, KY.
Gerald was born April 29, 1948 in Cincinnati, OH, a son to the late Frank and Geraldine (Lawson) Palmer. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving in Vietnam, where he received a purple heart, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal and Vietnamese Campaign Medal. Gerald was a member of the Three Forks Chapter VFW Post 11296 Proctor Masonic Lodge 213, and Elk Lick Baptist Church. In his free-time he enjoyed reading, fishing, wood working, and spending time with his family and friends.
Along with his wife of 36 years; Debbie Palmer of Beattyville, KY, he is survived by 2 daughters; Angela (Jason) Worthington of Norwood, OH, and Amber (Henley) McIntosh of Beattyville, KY, 3 sisters; Barb (Bob) Irvine of Batavia, OH, JoAnne (Bubba) Kiger of Felicity, OH, and Sue (Chuck) Ross of Hudson, FL, 4 grandchildren; Patrick Palmer, Kirsten Worthington, Callie and Timothy Smallwood, 1 great-grandchild; Hope Grace Palmer, and many other loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Frank and Geraldine Palmer, 1 son; Timothy James Palmer, 1 brother; Frank Palmer Jr. and Mother and Father in law; Banford and Nina Mayes.
Visitation will be held Saturday, May 25, 2019 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at the Booneville Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, May 26, 2019 at 1:00 PM at the Booneville Funeral Home with Pastor David Combs officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Palmer Cemetery, located in Tallega, KY.
