On May 6, 2019, Warren Otis Pullam, 58, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, passed away at the Seattle Veterans Administration Hospital from cancer. Born in Vancouver, Wash., on Dec. 16, 1960. Warren was the son of Carl and Iola Pullam (deceased). Warren grew up in Vancouver, Wash. After attending Fort Vancouver High School, Warren joined the U.S. Army Infantry. He was initially stationed in Germany and then served at Fort Benning, Ga. as a drill sergeant. Warren subsequently became an instructor for the U.S. Army Bradley Fighting Vehicle (BFV) and moved to various locations in the United States, including Colorado and Idaho. He retired from the Army in 1995 and began his second career with Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway (BNSF) in Vancouver, Wash. To assume a new position with BNSF, Warren relocated his family to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and soon became a safety assistant and then a mechanical foreman. Warren was a natural leader and teacher and was respected and loved, both by his soldiers and his co-workers.

An avid outdoorsman, Warren loved to hunt, fish, camp, hike, boat and any other activity where he could be outside in the mountains or on the water. He was adventurous and loved to jump in his truck and see where he ended up. While he enjoyed all sports, baseball was one of his favorites. He played baseball as a catcher while growing up in Vancouver, Wash., and became a Little League coach for his children for several years. He also golfed, played football and enjoyed bowling. Warren was a Seahawks fan, a Mariners fan, a Cougars fan and he rooted on Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Warren was a loving husband and father. His greatest love was spending time with his wife and children. He loved being at home, tending to his roses and yard, and working on projects around the house. He was a great cook and a master at the barbeque. His favorite pastime was going on “deer drives” around Hayden Lake with his wife and kids, where they would count how many deer they would see. The record stands at 174 deer in one drive! An infectious smile, a great sense of humor and a kind heart will always be his legacy. If anyone needed help, he was there. Warren will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Joy Pullam; four children: Summer, Carl (Jessica), Aidan and Savannah; and three grandchildren: Matthew, Jaiden and Warren. Warren is also survived by his two sisters: Linda and Janet, and their spouses, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Warren’s memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on July 5, 2019, at Lake City Community Church, 6000 N. Ramsey Road, Coeur d’Alene, ID 83815, with a reception to follow. His Interment service will be held at 3 p.m. on the same day at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 21702 W. Espanola Road, Medical Lake, Wash., 99022.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Fisher House Foundation in memory of Warren Pullam. Our family is especially grateful for the outstanding care given during the time Warren was in the VA Hospital in both Spokane and Seattle.
